It is the commercial 'capital' of East and Central Africa serving more than eight countries besides hosting several United Nations offices. Justly described as a garden city as its broad avenues are lined with flowering plants and shrubs. Situated at an altitude of 1600 meters, it enjoys hot sunny days and cool evenings. Places of interest to the visitor include the Municipal Market, the ornate Jamia Mosque and the National Museum with its adjacent Snake Park and Aviary. There are several art galleries exhibiting work by local artists, displays of tribal dancing, two theatres, and variety of good restaurants and wealth of fascinating curio shops.

The Samburu National Reserve is one of the most colorful and dramatic game viewing areas of Kenya. The reserve contains the whole range of East African Wildlife, besides some animals that are only found here north of the equator namely grevy?s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, long necked gerenuk and Beisa Oryx. The bird life is strikingly numerous and colorful, perhaps the most impressive sight is the immense flock of tufted vulturine guinea fowl which makes their way each afternoon to the river-bank to drink. The Maasai Mara National Reserve (1,812 sq Km) the scene of one f the wonders of the modern world, - the spectacular migration of zebra and wildebeeste that comes through the Mara in their 1500km round annual trek from southern plains in the Serengeti. The Mara offers wonderful scenery and an abundance of big game. With its rolling plains and grasslands it is reminiscent of Hemingway Country. There are very large herds of buffalo, wildebeeste and various antelope. In addition hippo, giraffe, rhino, elephant and leopard are frequently seen. But the Mara is renowned for its magnificent black-manned lions with their large prides that spend most of the day sleeping in the shade of the acacia trees. | | Day 6 | Nairobi | Departure: Breakfast at the Camp.
